About the KindergartenSedbergh Kindergarten creates a friendly and interactive learning environment and an infinite development space for children. Inside the kindergarten, the functional area and outdoor activity area can meet the needs of carrying out rich teaching activities, and stimulate children's desire for exploration and knowledge to the greatest extent.

ECE ProgrammeIn curriculum design, Sedbergh Kindergarten integrates China's early childhood basic education system, the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and the British national curriculum, and make adjustments to them to better meet the needs of international early childhood education, so as to provide children with a multicultural curriculum that combines the foundation of Chinese culture.

The curriculum, centered around seven learning and development areas, is designed and implemented by a team of experienced teachers to ensure that each child can achieve goals appropriate to their developmental stage.

    Seven Curriculum Objectives

  • 1. Personal, Social, and Emotional Development

Help children develop a positive self-awareness and self-confidence; learn to respect others and build positive relationships; learn how to establish close friendships, work as a team, improve their ability to resolve conflicts peacefully and develop social skills.

  • 2. Physical Development

Help children develop their coordination, control and motor skills. Understand the importance of physical development and diet for their health and well-being.

  • 3. Communication and Language

Improve children’s language skills by developing confidence and learning to listen and speak in different environments.

  • 4. Literacy

Encourage children to associate sounds with letters and start learning how to read and write. Develop and improve children's literacy ability from vocabulary reading and understanding. Expose them to a wide range of reading materials (books, poems and other written materials) to develop their interests in reading.

  • 5. Mathematics

Provide a variety of different opportunities for children to develop and improve their mathematic skills, including simple addition and subtraction, description of shape and space, and presentation of measurement results. Instill a sense of curiosity in numbers, shapes, spaces and scales, and apply what they have learned in the classroom, into practice.

  • 6. Understanding the World

We encourage children to explore and observe people, space, technology and the environment, empower them to build a better awareness and perception of the world around them, and guide them to form an understanding of diversity culturally, socially and ecologically.

  • 7. Artistic expression and design

Guide children to explore and experience the diversity of the world through games and enhance their self-expression and communication skills. In addition, the school also engages children in art, music, sports, dance, and role playing to share their thoughts, ideas and emotions with their teachers and peers.

Hi-LightHi-light is the core curriculum of Sedbergh Kindergarten. Taught in English and Chinese, the course, while following the existing EYFS standards, extends the original sub-domains under seven domains to cover children's development goals at each stage. By combining theme-based teaching and project-based teaching, the course aims to deliver rich learning experiences to children and promote their all-round development.
